Hey Reader,

Most players obsess over their serve, return, and the third shot drop.

But you know what hardly anyone talks about?
👉 The fourth shot.

During a Dynamite Doubles group coaching call, coach Helle Sparre broke down why the fourth shot can make or break a rally—and how most players get it wrong.

Here’s the key takeaway:
If your fourth shot isn’t a clean winner, it must be treated like another approach shot. Your goal is to keep the other team from attacking, not to hand them an easy ball.

That means:

  • Target their feet. A ball at the toes forces them to lift, setting you up for the next put-away.
  • Use placement, not just power. Hard at their paddle = their ball back at you.
  • Be patient. Build the point. Win in 2–3 shots, not with a rushed attempt.

In short: stop being casual with your fourth shot. Precision here keeps you and your partner in control at the kitchen line—and keeps the bangers from taking over.

If you’d like to dive deeper into strategies like this, Dynamite Doubles was designed to give you the game plan that transforms chaos into confidence.

P.S. Helle also showed how to “wrong-foot” opponents who charge in too fast. It’s sneaky—and wildly effective. We’ll be covering more of these advanced tactics in our upcoming sessions. Don’t miss out!
